We are excited to announce that we have two vacancies for parent governors which we would like to fill as soon as possible through an election process. This is a great opportunity to play a role in helping to shape our school and supporting our children to 'Sparkle & Shine'.
Parent governors bring a very important and valued perspective to the work of the governing body. All our governors can make a real difference to the performance of the school and have a real part to play in making the school successful.
The school's governing body is a committee of the Willows Academy Trust Board of Directors and is responsible for oversight of the school. Its responsibilities include the strategic focus of the school, the well-being of pupils and their educational achievement, and ensuring appropriate use of the school budget.
Governing body meetings are held on a Monday, currently at 3:30pm using Microsoft Teams. Meetings usually last approximately 2 hours. There are 6 meetings a year plus some additional visits and discussions. Training sessions are usually incorporated into these meetings, although some additional online training is also required.
If you are interested, please read 'Could you become a governor?' which gives more information about the role.
No special qualifications are needed and the most important things are to have a keen interest in the school and being prepared to play an active part in the governing body’s work. However,
Please also read the important information on 'Eligibility' which outlines the circumstances under which someone cannot serve as a governor.
ost importantly we are seeking parent governors who are committed to the school community and share our passion for supporting our children to 'Sparkle & Shine'.
