Admissions to Sawley Infant & Nursery School are processed by the Local Authority as part of the Local Authority Coordinated Admissions Scheme. The Admissions link below will open the Derbyshire Council Primary Admissions page where you will find guidance about application dates and access to online application forms for school places. Applications can also be made via post or over the phone. A place at Sawley Infant School does not guarantee a place at Sawley Junior School. We are two separate schools - both part of ONE Academy Trust. Details of application dates & offer dates are published when they become available each year. Visiting our school - admission tours
We offer tours of the school in the Autumn term each year before the application deadline. We welcome parents and carers to join us for small group tour and informal discussion with headteacher or key staff.
If you are considering making an in-year application to jpin our school, you are welcome to contact us to arrange a visit directly.

In-year admissions (to move or change schools mid year)
In-Year Admissions
If you would like to make an in-year admission to move or change schools, please contact the Derbyshire County Council Admissions team at any point in the year. If we do not have a school place in the year you have applied for, we will add your details to a waiting list managed in accordance with our admissions policy and admissions criteria.

A place at Sawley Infant School does not guarantee a place at Sawley Junior School. You must make a new application for Sawley Junior School.

For admissions in September 2027/28:
We will schedule dates for parents to visit the school in Autumn Term 2026. Visit dates will be published in July 26 so parents can book a place.
- Application period: Applications round opens November 19, 2026 and closes on January 16, 2027
- Offer day: April 16, 2027 (National Offer Day)
- Appeal deadline: Appeals must be submitted by May 17, 2027
- Main appeal hearing: The main round of appeals is usually heard by July 19, 2027
- Waiting list maintenance: Waiting lists are maintained until Dec 31, 2027 after which you must make an in-year application

Admission Appeals Information
If you're unhappy with the decision you can make a primary school admissions appeal. This should be made to the Local Authority using their Appeal form available on their website here DCC Admission Appeals Link
In-year admissions only
If your appeal relates to an in-year admission you should submit your appeal to the Local Authority within 20 school days of being told that your application was unsuccessful.
2026/27 application round
If your appeal is for a child transferring to a junior school or starting an infant or primary school in September 2026 and you are told of the decision on 16th April 2026 (National Offer Day) you should submit your appeal to the Local Authority by the date stated in your letter/available on the Local Authority website which will be at least 20 school days from the National Offer Day.
- If you are told of an infant, junior or primary decision after 16th April 2026, or it relates to an in-year admission, you should submit your appeal within 20 school days of being told your application was unsuccessful.
2027/28 application round

Outcome of the statutory consultation on the admission arrangements for Sawley Infant & Nursery School for admissions in Sept 2027
The trustees of ONE Academy Trust (the Admissions Authority) last consulted on the admissions arrangements for Sawley Infant & Nursery School in Autumn 2025 for admissions in Sept 2027, in accordance with the statutory requirements set out in the School Admissions Code. The consultation ran from Monday 3 November 2025 to Monday 15th December 2025. The purpose of the consultation was to change the Published Admission Number (PAN) from 90 to 60 pupils. There were no other changes to the admissions arrangements.
CONSULTATION ON PROPOSED CHANGE TO ADMISSION ARRANGEMENTS FOR SAWLEY INFANT & NURSERY SCHOOL : Now closed
The trustees of ONE Academy Trust (the Admissions Authority) are consulting on proposed changes to the admissions arrangements for Sawley Infant & Nursery School as set out below. The proposed changes would take effect for admissions in the Admissions Year 2027/2028 (Sept 2027 intake).
The proposed change to the admissions arrangements is:
A decrease in the Published Admission Number (PAN) from 90 to 60.
All other criteria and priorities remain in line with the current published admissions arrangements for Sawley Infant & Nursery School. Comments are not being sought on any other areas.
The proposed admissions arrangements for Sawley Infant & Nursery School for 2027-28 are available below on our school website. A printed copy is available on request.

The outcome of the consultation will be notified to all parents/carers, anyone who has submitted comments and posted on the Sawley Infant & Nursery School website and the ONE Academy Trust website by 15th March 2026.
